Since 2000, Akshara Foundation has worked with 48,000 pre-school children and over 90% of them have gone on to enroll in formal schools.

Akshara Foundation has provided remedial inputs to 17,400 children with 90% showing improvement in their learning levels of math and language. The success of this program made the Government of Karnataka declare the Year 2003-04 as the Year of Academic Achievement.

Akshara Foundation has set up 32 in-school libraries,which circulate more than 50000 books to over 5000 members. There are also 13 community libraries and 103 mobile librarians with a membership of over 4500 children.

Akshara Foundation has conducted the Accelerated Reading Programme in partnership with the Government of karnataka and the Sarva Shikha Abhiyan in 117 schools in Bangalore.The program saw an overall improvement of 88% in children's reading abilities.
